Former Belleville man allegedly uses business credit card for Cardinals season tickets, personal expenses


A former man from Belleville, Illinois pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud involving a scheme to embezzle fund from a local doctors office Thursday.

Jerry L. Akin, 60, faces a prison sentence of upto 40 years, a fine up to $500,000 and up to three years supervised release with mandatory restitution.

Akin admitted as part of his plea that he charged personal purchases to the companys credit card that included St. Louis Cardinals season tickets, concert tickets, medical bills and personal travel expenses. The indictment further alleges that Akin paid personal credit card bills using the business checking account and he attempted to conceal the payments.

The sentencing is scheduled for Aug.26, 2016.
